My Why

Family and community have always been important to me. I have had the opportunity to live and raise my family in this county.

My parents are David and Shirley Meadows from Canvas.

I have been married to Wes for over 20 years and we have three children. Dawson, Samantha and David, ages 21, 18 and 15.

I never thought twice about raising my family here in Nicholas County. Unfortunately, I do not feel that certainty for our children now that they are getting older. I want our county to be a place where not only my children, but your children and grandchildren can build a successful future.

We all need our county to be a place where young adults can not only find good jobs, but start businesses, raise families and put down roots.

My Journey

I have over thirty years’ experience in the legal field, serving as a Magistrate for Nicholas County for over ten of those years. The knowledge I have gained in the past thirty years has shaped me to make good, sound, legal decisions for the whole county.

I have witnessed the operations of all the offices of the county government and know I can help guide our local government back to a citizen-first, public servant’s mindset.

With my previous career experience, I carry the ability to address many tough issues that plague our county government. Items like the jail bill seem to be one of the issues discussed monthly, if not daily within the courthouse walls and would benefit from my insight.

During this career I maintained a steadfast commitment to procedural integrity and transparent governance even with failing systems.

My Beliefs

I believe in protecting the rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of West Virginia, including but not limited to, the 2nd amendment.

Not only did I grow up in a hunting family, my dad, David J. Meadows retired as a West Virginia State Trooper and then as a two term Sheriff of Nicholas County. With that being said, it is our responsibility to possess the knowledge to properly handle and use a firearm and then pass that knowledge and safety to our children.

My Business Experience

Outside of my legal career I have also had the privilege to work alongside my husband to build Legacy Insurance & Financial Services, Inc. from the ground up. For over ten years we have worked together and have expanded from one office in one county to six in six different counties. Each county displaying similarities, and more than not, differences in how their counties and municipalities operate.

The extensive insight gained from the operations across county lines uniquely positions me to deliver effective governance for Nicholas County. This experience further equips me to streamline local services, manage resources efficiently, and most importantly, make thoughtful decisions that benefit our county and all the people who call it home.

My Furry Family

I am a proud pet owner, longtime supporter of animal adoption and a strong advocate for responsible pet ownership.

Over the years we have adopted many of our furries from the local animal shelter. Some have also been strays or rescues from the Wal-Mart parking lot. They truly do make some of the best pets.
